When you visit your Doctor, a Hospital or other health care provider the treatment that you receive may cause you to suffer a personal injury. If it can be proven that the treatment, or lack thereof, was performed negligently then you may have a personal injury claim for compensation.
Your claim will be under by the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act and the first step is to serve a Part 9A Notice on the Doctor and/or Hospital. This must occur within one month of you retaining a lawyer or nine months of the incident, whichever is the sooner, although these timeframes can be extended in certain situations.
The insurer will respond after the Doctor or Hospital receives your Notice and your claim will proceed through the usual steps.
